The remarks follow Infosys’ decision to stop allowing staff in its US and Canadian locations to work remotely and instead request that they do so five days per week.

Despite the company offering freedom in terms of where staff can work from, some clients of Infosys, the IT industry leader, have started insisting on working from offices and requesting that their projects be managed from offices.

Salil Parekh, CEO and MD of Infosys, stated there will be a need for more social capital in the future since individuals will need to interact with one another to accomplish new things, train, and much more, in response to a shareholder’s question at the company’s recent annual general meeting (AGM).

“We treat staff with flexibility. We guarantee that the staff members can work remotely or in a hybrid setting. In some circumstances where clients demand it. We have staff members and teams working on campus,” Parekh was cited by PTI as adding.

Nilanjan Roy, the CFO of Infosys, concurred with Parekh’s assertions and stated that the company encourages employees to work a few days per week, which, in Roy’s opinion, boosts the company’s social capital.

The remarks follow Infosys’ decision to stop allowing its workers in its US and Canadian operations to work from home and instead ask them to do so five days per week. However, Infosys informed its staff that in order to work remotely, they would need to obtain special clearance.

In addition, the business had cautioned workers that failure to follow the new remote work policy could result in disciplinary action. However, this work policy does not apply to the company’s offices in India.

Infosys introduced a three-phase plan in India last year to make the switch from working remotely and from home to working in an office. Employees could visit the office as much as twice a week during the initial phase. Employees had the choice to go to a different branch or apply for a transfer during the second phase. Based on suggestions from the first two phases, Infosys created a hybrid work policy in the third.
