As the state of Himachal Pradesh continued to experience heavy rain, the India Meteorological Department on Saturday issued a red alert for seven districts and an orange alert for three districts for the ensuing 48 hours. IMD has sent out alerts for landslides and flash floods in the state.
There is a “very high risk of heavy to very heavy rainfall” in Uttarakhand, according to the IMD’s orange and red alerts. A yellow signal has also been issued by the weather service for Delhi, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh.
According to the most recent IMD bulletin, moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms are anticipated to occur in most locations throughout the eight districts of Bilaspur, Solan, Shimla, Sirmaur, Una, Hamirpur, Mandi, and Kullu in Himachal Pradesh. A very severe downpour is also expected to happen in remote areas. According to IMD, a few locations in the remaining districts are predicted to get light to moderate rainfall.

IMD HP deputy director Bui Lal told the news agency ANI that a red alert has been issued for the districts of Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Una, Hamirpur, and Bilaspur. The majority of the state will experience rain. For the districts of Shimla, Solan, and Sirmaur, an orange alert has been issued.
On July 10 and 11, all schools and institutions would stay closed due to a red alert notice. Certain regions of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, and Himachal Pradesh have received heavy rain warnings, and authorities in Delhi, which experienced its most rainfall on a single day in July since 1982, have issued concerns about the Yamuna’s rising water level.
Yellow alert has been issued for today in the state of Delhi. The Delhi government has also declared that all schools will be closed today. Waterlogging caused traffic problems as people had to wade across flooded roadways, cars became stranded, and underpasses became flooded.
District Magistrate Sonika of Uttarakhand issued a directive on Sunday ordering the closure of all public and private schools, as well as Anganwadi centres, for grades 1 through 12 in the Dehradun district on July 10.
