Linda Yaccarino, the newly appointed CEO of Twitter, has officially assumed her role at the popular social media company. Late on Monday, Linda tweeted, “It happened — first day in the books!”
Around a month ago, Elon Musk announced Linda as the new CEO of Twitter. Musk had previously expressed his belief that Linda Yaccarino would contribute to the development of an “everything app.”
Prior to taking on the position of Twitter CEO, Yaccarino served as the advertising chief at NBCUniversal. Linda updated her LinkedIn bio to reflect her new role as the CEO of Twitter.
In a post, she shared her excitement about the opportunity, saying, “I’m happy to announce that I’ve started a new journey as the Chief Executive Officer of Twitter. I’ve always been inspired by Elon Musk’s vision for a brighter future. Now, I’m thrilled to help bring that vision to Twitter and drive transformation in the business together. Your feedback is crucial to Twitter’s future, and I’m here to listen. Let’s continue the conversation and build Twitter 2.0 together!”
On Monday, former NBCUniversal executive Joe Benarroch also joined Twitter. During his tenure at NBCUniversal, Benarroch held the position of Executive Vice President of Communications, Global Advertising, and Partnerships. In a memo to his colleagues on Sunday, Benarroch announced that he would be assuming a business operations role at Twitter.
Since Elon Musk’s takeover in October, approximately 75% of Twitter employees, including many with strong connections in sales and partnerships, have either been fired or left the company.
